Viola and Violin
Alanah is currently pursuing a degree in Viola Performance at the University of Maryland, where she is on a merit-based scholarship. Alanah is a proud alumnus of the Baltimore School for the Arts where she studied with members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. She has attended festivals such as Eastern Music Festival, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, and Interlochen. Alanah’s primary teachers include Katherine Murdock, Karin Brown, and Susan Dapkunas. During the summer of 2021 Alanah received her certification in Suzuki Violin Book 1. As a daughter and granddaughter of nurses Alanah strives to find practical ways she can use music to help others. Alanah has dealt with injuries related to playing the viola and through her study of the Alexander Technique, she has learned ways to help herself and students prevent injury. In her free time, she enjoys playing board games with her younger cousins. Chamber music and teaching are her passions and she can’t wait to share her love of music with others.
